It’s easier than you think to make your dressing from scratch! I have been making my dressings at home for a REALLY long time now – they taste better and have healthier ingredients than store-bought bottles, in my humble opinion. This homemade garlicy ranch dressing is one of my fave’s. It is not a true “ranch” dressing, but it is really close and dare I say it is even a bit better?!?! Nah, nothing beats a true, homemade ranch!
I’m not talking about that bottled chemical-ly tasting ranch stuff you find on the shelves in the grocery store. I intend no offense here if that is your jam. That could be the only ranch you have ever tasted, or that is just what you like! If this is you, carry on with your bottled ranch, you should always do what works for you!
But…
This fresh, easy to do, homemade version just makes my tastebuds soar and I totally love it. When I make a true fresh ranch dressing, I will post that, but this one tastes great and can be used as a dip or salad dressing! Give it a try, I think you will love it!
The real reason I made this version, is because the ingredients listed was what I had in the fridge and on my counter. I usually have all these ingredients on hand so it is an easy go-to for me.
So, here is how you make this dressing!
This is really easy to do. Get your ultra-fine grater out and grate one clove of garlic. It should look like this:
Next, chop 3 of your scallions/green onions. For this recipe, you want to “dice” the onion. Cut the ends of the green onion off, and then start at the bottom where the white part of the onions are. Line them up, slice off the hairy end, and then work your way along the onion, moving the knife along so you get small, rings of onions. then once they are small, dice them all up pretty small. They shuold look like this:
That’s most of the work!
Then, to the garlic and onion, you just add in the mayo, cream, garlic powder, onion powder, lemon juice, and salt and pepper to taste! So for the mayo, I ALWAYS use Dukes! It tastes the best to me and you can never go wrong.. you can find it here.
The dressing is best if it can sit for a few hours as the garlic sometimes packs a pretty serious punch. It chills out over time, so give it a minute if you can.
And there you have it! Slice a wedge of iceberg, or use on your favorite lettuce and you have a delicious salad!
Top it with some fresh cracked pepper to put it over the top!
